The following principles have been developed to guide this section and are supplementary to the core principles listed at the beginning of the Management Plan.
- Not everything can be preserved. Prioritisation is needed to inform our work, including that of recording what cannot be saved.
- Record keeping must be standardised to facilitate access and comprehension, now and in the future.
- Promotion and accessibility of information about cultural heritage is good for its long-term future.
- The conservation of cultural heritage can also make a positive contribution to the North Pennines economy, to climate change mitigation and biodiversity.
